Why I chose them: I orignially found them via a google search of local roof repairers and chose them on the basis of their website, the fact that Paul uses his last name as the business name and you can find their home address and home phone - all good signs that they have nothing to hide. They can be contacted on a Sunday evening, and sounded knowledgeable and professional on the phone. We had recently had our rental completely reroofed and had made a point of telling the contractors (not Hewitsons) that the V-gulley was problematic (in heavy hail). When it SNOWED in Wellington on Sunday 14th August, we received a call in the evening from our tenants to say that the new roof was leaking. I contacted Hewitsons and spoke to Paul. In our discussions we talked about cost - which was fully explained, and he also suggested to me that I might want to contact the previous roofing contractors as it would save me money as they should fix it as it was new - for various reasons I was not willing to have them back. Paul said he could be there the next day - and was there first thing - wonderful considering the conditions in Wgtn at the time! I was impressed with Paul's knowledge, willingness to explain what was wrong and detail how it would be fixed, and I really appreciated his understanding of my need to ask a lot of questions, having been let down by the previous roofing contractor. My tenants found them to be professional and the roof has since been tested by a heavy hail storm and has not leaked. The quote did have some variables in it and these were fully explained to me. The invoice was detailed and as a result of the variables, the final cost was slightly less than quoted. I am really impressed with Paul's professionalism, communication and the end result and I am more than happy to recommend them and should I require roofing work in the future I will use them. Such a relief to deal with a real professional.

We are very pleased with the roof, while Paul quoted for both asphalt shingles and long run, there wasn't a huge difference and we are pleased with the look of the tiles since they replaced old tiles. The removal of the chimneys turned out to be harder than he thought, but still an excellent job done there. Great attention to detail ensuring that the finishes were of a high standard. Some small changes to cost that were clearly communicated. Would (and have already) recommended this tradesman to others.
